BiographyBorn in Santa Fe de Bogotá (Colombia), where he started his musical studies at the Conservatorio de la Universidad Nacional de Colombia. He studied harmony, music history, music theory, performing arts, repertory and voice with the teachers CARMIÑA GALLO and Kathleen Willson.
Also, he learnt horn studies during five years with Rosio Castillo and Julián Gomes Giraldo, and then he decided to focus on Vocal Arts. He took part in different courses of Singing and Interpretation with: Luis Girón (Guatemala), José Rosendo Flores (Mexico), Fernando de la Mora (Mexico), Enrique Patrón de Rueda (Mexico). His first performance as a soloist was with the Schubert’s G Major Mass in 1995 at the Auditorio Olav Rots in Bogota. He sang a few solos like the ones in oratorios Haendel’s "Messiah”, Verdi’s "Requiem” and Bach’s “Christmas Oratorio”. He became conductor’s assistant for Enrique Patrón de Rueda at the Opera de Colombia during five seasons, and also invited soloist in the “Compañía de Zarzuela Arte Lírico” of Bogotá. Soloist for the radio and TV show "Las Clásicas del amor" for five seasons. Tenor soloist in the special concert for the hundred years of Verdi in Colombia. Invited soloist, together with other singers, to perform the one hundred songs of the century in Colombia. He got the Honourable Mention for his artistic career in the IV Festival de Ópera al Parque de Bogotá and winner of a national scholarship for vocal arts studies. In 2002 he moved to Spain for special Lied studies (Wolf, Schubert, etc) with Wolfram Rieger. He studied also vocal arts with the Italian maestro Enso Spatola, and actually with Anna Feu in Barcelona. He collaborated with the Colombia Embassy in Spain as concert and cultural activities advisor, in the office of Ms Nora Trujillo (Counselor and Ministry of Culture of the Embassy). Among other concerts, he has sung the Mozart’s Requiem conducted by Alexandre Shiper in Madrid, and also an opera and zarzuela concert at the Auditorio Nacional of Madrid with the soprano Alina Furman and the pianist Olga Kharitonina broadc sted by Television Española. In other European countries such Portugal and France, he sang “Remendado” in Bizet’s Carmen, Traviata in Coimbra Theatre, Madame Butterfly in Dos Coliseios Theatre of Lisbon, and Verdi’s Trovatore. He has also collaborated with the Choir of Gran Teatre del Liceu of Barcelone during the 2007 Aida production.
