CML's 40th anniversary concert
La Serenissima
a musical celebration of Venice, including Vivaldi's Gloria

You're invited to celebrate Collegium Musicum of London Chamber Choir's first 40 years with a sparkling programme of choral and instrumental music inspired by the splendour and beauty of Venice.
Vivaldi composed his famous Gloria in 1715, for the choir of the Ospedale della Pietà, an orphanage for girls. This, his most famous choral piece, presents the traditional Gloria from the Latin Mass in twelve varied and inspiring sections.
Born in 1567, Claudio Monteverdi is often regarded as a musical revolutionary, his works marking the transition from the Renaissance to the Baroque. We present three madrigals from his fifth book, his stately Ave Maris Stella, from the 1610 Vespers, as well as the composer's lively Cantate Dominum.

Works by Giovanni and Andrea Gabrieli, and Heinrich Schütz complete the programme, in which the choir are joined by an illustrious ensemble of instrumentalists, alongside soloists Grace Davidson (soprano) and Tim Travers-Brown (alto).
The concert also marks the debut of CML's new Musical Director Greg Morris, who joined the choir after the departure of Russell Du Plessis earlier in the year.
With a perfect acoustic, the understated grandeur of the Priory Church of the Order of St John presents a resplendent backdrop to what promises to be an inspired celebration of one of London's liveliest chamber choirs.
