St Sepulchre’s Church Holborn Viaduct London, EC1A 2DQ
This autumn, Collegium Musicum of London collaborates with the fEinklang Chamber Choir from Munich in two concerts of acappella anthems interpreting prayers to the Blessed Virgin Mary.
The first, in the splendid setting of St Sepulchre’s church in the City of London, takes full advantage of the venue’s excellent acoustic for choral music. The concert will be repeated three weeks later in Munich. Marian anthems have been widely popular with composers, and the concert brings together a diverse collection of works from four centuries. Featuring music by Byrd, Victoria, Bach, Grieg, Brahms, Bruckner, Rachmaninov, Poulenc, Britten and John Tavener, Mariana promises a varied and moving evening’s music-making, in one of London’s most majestic concert venues. |
