	Biography “The impressive conductor, Cristian Cimei, has enhanced the vocal talents of the superb soloists and the choir, supported by a skilful and vibrant orchestra.” La Traviata - Sydney Cristian Cimei is an accomplished, awarded and educated Orchestral and Opera Conductor, with experience of renowned artists such as Luciano Pavarotti, Kristin Lewis, Christin-Marie Hill, Fabio Armiliato, Mariella Devia and Michael Pulieff. Cristian has become uncompromising in his artistic standards and vision and exhibits unique passion, inspiration and leadership for his field. He performed in such illustrious venues such as the Boston Opera House, Lincoln Centre (New York), Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre (Atlanta), Capitol Theatre (Sydney), Melbourne Art Centre, Tokyo Bunka Kaikan, Hyogo Performing Arts Center (Osaka), Gunpo Culture & Arts Center (Seoul), National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall (Taipei) and Blaisdell Concert Hall (Honolulu). Recently he was invited to conduct the London Classical Soloists in London, the Orchestra Regionale Filarmonica Veneta in Italy and the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra in the USA. Currently, he is a Fellow of the Helen Jones Foundation and the Associate Conductor at Texas Tech University where he is completing his DMA. He also have significant experience with orchestra recording and recently, he served as music supervisor for the world-premiere recording of the Stephenson’s Trumpet Concerto N3 ‘Concerto for Hope’. After having been awarded a Diploma with High Distinction in piano performance at the G. Briccialdi Conservatorium of Music in Terni, under the guidance of Maestro Elio Maestosi, Cristian was chosen by Maestro Elmar Slama to study with him at the Musikgymnasium Freudenhain in Passau, Germany in 2000. Cristian studied composition with Maestro Robert Mann in Rome and conducting with Maestro Simone Fermani in Milan. In June 2003, he worked at the Teatro Pirandello Agrigento with Maestro Pietro Ballo as a repetiteur for the International Competition for Opera Singers. In October, he was selected to perform at the Pantheon in Rome to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the pontificate of Pope John Paul II. This also led to the 2004 Parma Opera Festival where he was an Assistant Conductor for 'Isabeau' and the Opera Festival of Florence and Pistoia for 'Rigoletto' and 'Carmen'. Cristian was honoured to be invited to work as Assistant Conductor and pianist with the highly esteemed Maestro Luciano Pavarotti on his production of 'La Boheme' at the Teatro della Fortuna in Fano in the same year. In 2005, he joined the Teatro dell'Opera in Rome for the Balanchine Ballet Gala, working with renowned Director of the Corps de Ballet, Carla Fracci. This same year, he was chosen by Maestro Andrea Licata as an assistant with the Orchestra Sinfonica Siciliana on the production of 'Andrea Chenier' at the Teatro Massimo Palermo, with Armiliato and Devia. In late 2006, Cristian was invited to assist Maestro Licata at the Sydney Opera House on the productions of Puccini's 'Madama Butterfly' and 'La Bohéme' with Opera Australia. Following his return to Europe, Cristian continued his work as a repetiteur and honoured the public with his piano concert performances. In 2007, Cristian was awarded a place for the Masters in Conducting at the Sydney Conservatorium, studying with the renowned Maestro Imre Pallò. During this year, to recognise his talents, he was awarded the prestigious ‘Goossens Fellowship for Conducting’ and the 'International Merit Scholarship ' which is awarded by SCM for the most outstanding audition In 2009, he was a finalist for the Hephzibah Tintner Foundation Conducting Fellowship and was later appointed as Musical Director to the Rockdale Opera Company, conducting ‘La Traviata’ to great critical acclaim. Since 2009 Cristian is conducting regularly a number of Australian orchestra amongst them Strathfield Symphony Orchestra, Woollahra Philharmonic Orchestra, Penrith Symphony Orchestra. In 2014 he is been invited to conduct a Performing Arts Company, based in New York, with whom he completed a challenging 160-shows tour across US and Australasia. Back to Europa he was awarded a place to studied at the European Conducting Academy with Maestro Lior Shambadal (Principal Conductor of the Berliner Symphoniker) and Maestro Romolo Gessi (Professor at the Conservatorium of Trieste and Berliner Misterkurse) for an Advance Master Course in Conducting. Attualmente è Direttore Associato alla Texas Tech University (USA), dove è stato insignito della Helen Jones Foundation Fellowship per meriti artistici. Ha anche una significativa esperienza nel campo delle registrazione, recentemente, è stato supervisore musicale per la registrazione in prima mondiale del "Concerto for Hope" N.3 di Jim Stephenson. Recentemente, si è esibito a Londra con i London Classical Soloists, a Vicenza con l'Orchestra Regionale Filarmonica Veneta e in America con l'Arkansas Symphony Orchestra. Cristian inizia lo studio del pianoforte all’età di 5 anni, dopo gli studi liceali ed il Diploma in Pianoforte all’Ist.Musicale Pareggiato “G.Briccialdi” di Terni, sotto la guida del M°Elio Maestosi si perfeziona a Passau (Germania) al Musikgymnasium Freudenhain con il M°Elmar Slama.Tra il 2000 ed il 2004 studia Composizione con il M° Robert Mann e direzione d’orchestra con il M° Simone Fermani Nel 2002 suona con la compagnia teatrale francese ‘Ultima Chamada’ per la produzione dell’opera di T.Kressmann “Inconnu a cette adresse” al Consolato Francese a Napoli ed ai Musei di S.Salvatore in Lauro a Roma per l’esposizione del pittore Ettore de Conciliis . Nel 2003 a Giugno è ad Agrigento al Teatro Pirandello come pianista accompagnatore per il M°Pietro Ballo al ‘Concorso Internazionale per Cantanti Lirici’, ad ottobre suona al Pantheon a Roma per il XXV° anniversario del Pontificato di Papa Giovanni Paolo II. Nello stesso anno dopo essere stato selezionato dal M°Marco Balderi per una Masterclass a Fiesole sulla “Concertazione e direzione delle opere liriche”, inizia con lo stesso un intensa collaborazione in qualità di assistente e pianista collaboratore, che lo porta dapprima al Festival di Taormina per le produzioni di ‘Turandot’ e ‘La Traviata’. Nel 2004 è al Festival Lirico di Parma con l’‘Isabeau’ di Mascagni, al Festival Lirico di Firenze e Pistoia con ‘Rigoletto’ e ‘Carmen’, a novembre al Teatro delle Fortune di Fano per produzione del M°Luciano Pavarotti de ‘La Bohème’. A gennaio 2005 al Teatro dell’Opera di Roma per il balletto Galà Balanchine con Carla Fracci direttrice del Corpo di Ballo. In questo stesso anno viene scelto dal M° Andrea Licata come assistente per le collaborazioni con l’Orchestra Sinfonica Siciliana, le produzioni dell’‘Andrea Cheniér’ al Teatro Massimo di Palermo,(con Fabio Armigliato e Daniela Dessì) e di ‘Madama Butterfly’ e de ‘La Bohème’ con Opera Australia alla Sydney Opera House . Nel 2006 si trasferisce a Sydney dopo aver vinto l’audizione per il Master in direzione d’orchestra con il rinomato M°Imre Pallò al Sydney Conservatorium of Music e per il quale è stato insignito,per due anni consecutivi, della ‘Goossens Fellowship for Conducting’ e la ‘International Merit Scholarship’, come miglior studente. Nel 2008 finito il Master, con il massimo dei voti, è invitato a dirige ‘Ruddigore’ di Gilbert e Sullivan con la Savoy Arts Company allo Zenith Theatre. Nel 2009 è finalista a Melbourne per la HephzibahTintner Conducting Fellowship. Nel 2010 viene invitato a dirigere 'La Traviata' con la Rockdale Opera Company, con grande successo di pubblico e critica. Dal 2009 ad oggi viene regolarmente invitato a dirigere la Strahfield Symphony Orchestra la Woollahra Philharmonia Orchestra la Penrith Symphony Orchestra. Nel 2014 viene invitato a collaborare con la compagnia di danza SY di New York con la quale si esibisce in America, Australia, Taiwan, Corea del Sud, Giappone. Di ritorno in Europa, è stato ammesso al corso avanzato di direzione d'orchestra con il M°Lior Shambadal (direttore principale dei Berliner Symphoniker) e M° Romolo Gessi
