BiographyPlaying an instrument as a duet means “playing” with music, holding hands in a ring-a-ring o’roses in which the audience takes part as well. Nicoletta ad Angela have played together from time immemorial, they were born and have grown up as a duet since their first approach to the instrument, they are one of the few Italian music formations which saw the light still in school days. After graduating at the Conservatorium “G. Verdi” in Milan they continued their studies at the Mozarteum in Salzburg in the class of Maestro Alfons Kontarsky. Under the guidance of the renowned Maestro they specialised during the triennium in the discipline of piano duet, acquiring a thorough knowledge of the repertoire of the XX century, of which Alfons – paired off with brother Aloys – is one of the most influential and distinguished performers. Aftetrwards, they graduated with full marks in Advanced Recital Piano Duet at the Trinity College-Guildhall of London. They have been guests for several times of major European music organizations performing in prestigious halls such as Sala Verdi, Teatro dal Verme, Teatro Litta, Palazzina Liberty (Milan), Teatro Regio (Parma), Villa San Michele (Anacapri), Sala Piatti (Bergamo), Villa Aurelia (Rome), Villa Rufolo (Ravello), Temples of Paestum, Musikverein (Vienna), GrosseSaal of the Hochschule (Munich in Bavaria), etc. Specialists in the music of the XIX century, Nicoletta and Angela have recorded a CD including compositions by P. Hindemith for Art Voice (Munich in Bavaria), not to mention the recordings made for Polish radio and television of pieces by E. Chabrier, for RAIUNO of pieces by D. Milhaud and live concerts for EuropaRadio (Milan); TVParma and TV2000. They have also cooperated with L.I.M. (Laboratory of Musical Informatics – University of Milan) giving the first performance of compositions expressly dedicated to them. Also dedicated to them are Robot Lunaire and Waldsehnsucht by Italian composer Irlando Danieli, performed for the first time in May 1997 in Milan for Novurgia. On the occasion of the celebrations for J.S. Bach they performed the concerts BWV 1062, 1063, 1065 conducted by the baton of M° Aldo Ceccato, who also invited them for the opening of Teatro dal Verme (2001) when they performed the concert KV 242 by W.A: Mozart. Following the victory at the “International W. Jacobi Competition” in Munich in Bavaria (2001), dedicated to XIX century music for two pianos, they were chosen to represent Italy in the Alumni Network, an artistic and cultural project promoted and supported by Allianz Cultural Foundation, in support of the diffusion of new musical experiences, both in composition and performance. In December 2006 they were invited by Romano di Lombardia city (Bergamo) for the celebrations in honour of M° Gianandrea Gavazzeni, bringing to light some all but forgotten four hand piano and orchestra pages by V.V. Masek. During their career they have cooperated with distinguished exponents from the musical and -broadly speaking- artistic world, performing under the conduction of M° A. Ceccato, P. Cattaneo, E. Rahm, R. Montenegro and succeeded in performing shows both inventive and of great worthiness with Valentina Cortese, Anna Nogara, Quirino Principe. |
