Jebel Ali Free Zone (JAFZ), the expansive industrial land on the bounds of the emirate, stated profit increased 10% to Dh1.68 billion, compared to Dh1.53bn a year earlier, ‘primarily from price and volume growth. It had added 583 new patrons in 2013 when net profit was Dh690 million. Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has launched the part one of its Smart Dubai initiative to power buildings and houses through solar energy.
Under the program, the consumers will be able to generate their own electricity from solar energy to power their villa or building in Dubai and even utilize the excess energy to compensate their monthly bills. The upcoming Water, Energy, Technology, and Environment exhibition (WETEX) will be focusing on clean coal as a source of energy as announced by Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA).
